After some speculation in the Chaz Draycott Media Boremula 1 World Championship Discord about what cars will be used for a potential second season, and people giving their opinions on which cars they would like to drive, or enjoy driving from time-to-time, there was a number of people showing interest in the Formula Renault 3.5 - an amazing-sounding, rapid formula car with sensational looks.
It's a car that often gets overlooked on iRacing these days - it's tough to drive, and there's a small selection of drivers who have mastered it, that blitz any official races on the regular, leaving others with no chance of victory. There have been a few one-make racing leagues in time that run this car, but not many, so it's time for Chaz to throw another idea at the wall and see if it sticks.
Introducing, the Chaz Draycott Media Formula Renault 3.5 Championship (Winter Series)! Eight race meetings spanning 10 weeks (including a break for Christmas and New Year) will see us travel all over Europe, starting at Silverstone, before heading over to the mainland, into the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Italy and more.
There will be no fancy race formats or anything too crazy - just two 75km sprint races, due to last about 25 minutes each, with the second grid being set by the first race result, only with the top 10 reversed. The cars will all be running a fixed, high downforce setup, to hopefully make them slightly easier to drive, and keep the racing close.
Entries open TONIGHT at 18:00GMT, with the first round taking place on the 1st of December 2022, and the last being completed on the 2nd of February 2023!
