The Sim Racing Magazine GT4 Challenge came about as a result of two very fun special events as part of a collaboration between Chaz Draycott Media and the Sim Racing Magazine community. SRM was started by Andrew Marston during 2021 as a digital outlet for sim racing news, interviews, product reviews and many other excellent ways to explore and learn about the different avenues of the industry.

With my experience of running events and hosting leagues on iRacing, we came together to make a new championship, showcasing a class of racing that is normally in the shadows of GT3 cars or Prototypes as a "sub-class" - GT4. We started the first season with three cars available - the Porsche 718 GT4 Clubsport, McLaren 570S GT4 and BMW M4 GT4. Since then, iRacing have added two new cars to the sim - the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 and most recently the Mercedes AMG GT4, so the category is still growing in the sim and gives it a positive-looking future.

The championship has a wonderful, friendly community behind it, that celebrates close, clean and fun racing every time they get together on track.
