Welcome to Formula CDM! An umbrella of open-wheel racing series on iRacing, covering all corners of the globe in some of iRacing's finest and sometimes most underrated formula machines.

The bigger picture with Formula CDM is drivers trying to hold multiple titles across different regions, with championships being hosted as European, American, Oceania and British series, with a World Series to top it all off.

The fantasy brands of the CDM European Touring Car Championship make a return, meaning another series where drivers are randomly placed into teams with one another, promoting a more social and fun environment for those involved, while taking away the pressure of performing and chasing results for real-world teams and sponsors.

The format is a "Sprint and Feature" idea with a short Sprint to be used as a points boost to get everybody off the mark, while setting the grid for a much longer Feature race, including a mandatory pit stop. This is intended to demand a lot of versatility from drivers, showing that they can keep their cool over a long race, mastering pit stops and strategy, as opposed to just a short sprint full of fast laps.

Calendars are packed with some of the finest racing circuits from all over the world, sometimes uncovering hidden gems that drivers may not have raced on before. For example, a lot of people often think Catalunya when racing in Spain, but Navarra provides just as good racing, making an even better case for itself by being free on iRacing, too!

Everything is based around maintaining an enjoyable atmosphere for the drivers and competitors first and foremost, with protests and conflict around incidents kept to a minimum, but close, competitive racing is of course encouraged. The first season's driver and team line-up was determined by a random draw which was broadcast live, with subsequent seasons introducing a "driver's market", giving competitors the opportunity to stay put or change to certain teams based on results.

The cars used in the first outing were the Indy Pro 2000 PM-18, which I'm well aware was canned from official races, due to the overriding and continued popularity of the Formula 3 car and arrival of the Indy NXT machine. Changes to other cars for future seasons will be considered if necessary but the PM-18 can be a blast to drive at the right circuit, providing excellent racing.
