After a busy first season of Formula CDM, taking place in Europe, the time has come to rev up for the second instalment - The Americas Series.

Showcasing fantastic open-wheeled racing across the United States, Canada and Brazil, The Americas Series promises to be a barnstormer with a solid mixture of tracks and venues to challenge drivers.

Circuits like Laguna Seca, Interlagos and Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve are very well-known, meaning a number of drivers will have more experience there, despite being worlds apart feature-wise, whereas some of the "smaller" destinations such as Mid Ohio, Barber Motorsports Park and the Homestead Miami Infield Course, may catch people out. Belle Isle also features on the list, bringing street racing to Formula CDM for the first time.

In terms of the driver line-up for Season 2, viewers will see 16 drivers returning for their second bite of the cherry, but importantly, no sign of European Series Champion, Fraser Smith. Unfortunately commitments outside of the sim will keep him on the sidelines this time round.

Only three drivers have decided to stick with the teams that took them through The European Series, namely Sam Fitzpatrick at Flaxensport, John Tusting at Mirage Sport and Victor Oliveira at Dragonfly Competicion. All other drivers opted to be put back into the draw with nobody being placed back into their previous squad.

The early favourites on paper for the Teams Championship are Flaxensport with Sam Fitzpatrick and his new teammate Leigh Aberdeen - the latter forming half of the squad that took Bladespeed Esports to the championship in Europe, alongside Fraser Smith. Qio-Tiago Marteau made waves from the moment he debuted in The European Series and, with Alex Fretwell joining him at Team Verde, surely could mount a good charge.

Kevin Zwemstra was the focus of a lot of people's attention during the team draw as, through numerous pre-season testing and random draw formats, he'd always ended up driving a Ferrari (in Boremula 1) - the only one he didn't want. In Season 1 of Formula CDM, he was drawn into Mirage Sport, continuing the theme/curse of driving scarlet machinery. Luckily for him, this time, he has been picked to race for Dragonfly Competicion. The car isn't completely devoid of red, but the gleaming silver is, I'm sure, a welcome change.

The championship gets started on Wednesday the 14th of January at Mid Ohio with a clean slate for 2026 - who will score big points out of the blocks and who will start their campaign on the back foot? Watch live on the Chaz Draycott Media YouTube Channel to find out!
