Announcing Sim Racing Magazine's Fourth Special Event with Chaz Draycott Media!

With the second season of the Sim Racing Magazine GT4 Challenge in full swing, and providing masses of entertainment weekly on Tuesdays, it's gotten to the point where we need to look at how to entertain ourselves between seasons, and from previous experience, the SRM and CDM special events that have been put together have proven to be a great hit, so here's another!

On the 28th of February 2023, the Sim Racing Magazine paddock will rock up to Daytona International Speedway for the SRM Daytona Classic - a 2.4 Hour endurance race heading into sunset at one of the world's most demanding racing circuits. The event will adhere to iRacing's Team Racing rules, meaning two drivers per car, and a mandatory driver change at some point during the race!

There will be three classes available to the drivers that really send the message on why this event is called a "Classic". At the sharp end of the field you can expect to see the HPD ARX-01C, a monster of an LMP2 car from when the category was still in its open-top phase. It's certainly a looker, but don't blink because it's lightning fast and will be out of sight before you know it, or right up your chuff if you're in any cars in the other two categories...

The first of which being the GT1 Class, featuring two legendary racing cars, both bringing jaw-dropping looks and brain-melting noise to the grid. The Aston Martin DBR9 will scream its way around the banking while in the close proximity of rolling thunderstorm that is the Chevrolet Corvette C6.R. Drivers will have their work cut out to extract maximum performance from these brutes, but it'll make great TV watching it...

Bringing up the rear will be the GT3 Class, comprising of two absolute stars from the earlier days of the regulation set - the firebreathing and drool-enducing McLaren MP4-12C* (EDIT: Unfortunately due to an oversight, the McLaren has been removed from the entry list as of 31st Jan 2023) is certainly a sight for sore eyes, that goes as well as it looks, and it'll be sharing the tarmac with the car that really showed us how much of a transformation could be made when taking a road car, and turning it "all GT3" - the BMW Z4.

I'm sure you'll agree it's a breathtaking list of cars, and you'll hopefully be seeing an even variation of them as well, as all classes are limited to 12 entries/cars each on a first come first served basis. This brings the intention of keeping things lively in each of the classes, while fixing the setups will also mean that the pace you see is down to the drivers, adding extra spice to the pace variation between drivers in the same team.

The Official Rulebook for the event can be found here.

The event will be broadcast live on Chaz Draycott Media from 19:45GMT and entries will open at 18:00 on the 28th of January 2023, available here at chazdraycott.com. The entry fee is just £5 GBP and covers the car's entry (2x drivers), so you can see how petty your teammates are if they pay for you and hold you to that £2.50...
