CDM Sim Racing Championship Updates

There's a lot to take in here, so make sure you're sat down and have a brew.

Not long ago I announced plans for a new season of the CDM Boremula 1 World Championship and British Boring Car Championship. Since that time there have been a couple of updates planned that affect when they're running and the circuits they're running at. On top of this I'm happy to include more plans in a sort-of announcement post - this one!

CDM Boremula 1 World Championship, Season 2 - 1998

The championship has had an update to which circuits will be used for pre-season testing. I wanted to use a diverse selection of tracks and, as the calendar has been reduced for this season, hoped to include some that had been dropped. This now means that pre-season testing will take place at the Hungaroring, Hockenheim and Imola - three circuits with difficult characteristics, that'll most certainly bring out the best in drivers' capability.

On top of this, the first round in Australia has gone through a change - Phillip Island has been dropped for the short Winton circuit, meaning a lot of laps in the first round of the championship, that's sure to get us under way with some fireworks! The updated calendar for the series is down below.

The championship has also secured sponsorship for Season 3, in the form of f1countdown.com as title sponsor (series name change TBC). Sim Racing Magazine and Sim Stickers have also pitched in to help support what's going be an epic second running!

British Boring Car Championship, Season 3

To help accommodate another championship which I'm involved in, that takes up Tuesday nights, the British Boring Car Championship has been moved back by a couple of weeks, and to a Wednesday night. This will begin as soon as the CDM Boremula 1 World Championship concludes - the updated calendar is below.

There have been sponsors come forward for this as well, in the form of Abruzzi who are taking title sponsorship and Sim Racing Magazine who bring their ever-consistent support, for which I'm very grateful.

Sim Racing Magazine GT4 Challenge, Season 3

Based on the above movement of dates from the British Boring Car Championship, drivers and teams looking to compete in another Sim Racing Magazine GT4 Challenge season won't have to wait until October any more, as the original plan was!

The formula will stay very much the same - 1-hour races with 40% fuel, pit stops almost guaranteed at each round, but with the usual "logistically realistic" calendar, starting off in the United States for three rounds, heading over to Europe into Spain, up through France to the UK, then back down through Belgium, Germany and Austria before finishing in Italy at Imola!

The new additions of Jerez, Magny-Cours and Donington Park are certainly a mouth-watering selection and moving the season opener to Mid Ohio will be a real eye-opener for sure! Dates for entries will be announced closer to the time.

Sim Racing Magazine Special Events

Aside from the Sim Racing Magazine GT4 Challenge there will be at least two more special events organised this year - the first of which is due to fall just before Season 3 of the GT4 Challenge gets under way, on the 23rd of May. There are no details confirmed for this yet though, so hang fire sunshine.

The second event has to be organised on a very specific date - the 20th of June - to celebrate the 2023 Summer Solstice. Again, no details confirmed yet. Take of that what you will.

CDM Circuit Superstars One-Night Championships

Anyone that follows my YouTube content knows that I play quite a bit of Circuit Superstars - an amazingly fun and loveable top-down indie racing game from Original Fire Games. I've been involved in the competitive scene in an on/off kinda' way for a while and made some great friends through it, but before now, I'd never hosted an event on it. Well, it's time to change that.

Throughout 2023 and the foreseeable, I will be hosting one-night championships, consisting of at least five rounds, where everyone tries to get together in Discord, to just have a great time and put on some mega racing. No prizes, nothing too serious, just an honest night of great fun between like-minded players.

The first one will be on Monday the 3rd of April, starting at 20:00GMT with a six-round Touring Car Championship. You will have to complete an entry form ahead of time on a first come first served basis, with server details and the like only given out to the first 11 (in addition to myself) that enter. Further details and entries to be announced closer to the event.

So all in all there's some exciting stuff going on in the sim racing and Esports side for Chaz Draycott Media this year and I'm really hopeful to see you become a part of it. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, or check out the rest of my website and socials for further details.
